Why did I change the Lum and Abner Comic Strip to this format in 2018?
Well, my hands were at my throat!
In 2017-18, I was working full-time assisting sculptor Bob Harness!
During this period of 2018, we had two major commissions for larger-than-life-size statues. I simply did not have time to produce an illustrated comic strip.
Temporarily turning Lum and Abner into an informational strip with the best photos I could find seemed a good way to keep the weekly deadlines met.
Meanwhile, I worked on sculpting those hands which seemed to have a life of their own!
They shocked my wife Laura one day when she opened the freezer:
Even before COVID, we were using hand sanitizer!
