The above is the first audio reading by “Singin’ Sam” Brown!
Sam Brown is a founding member of The National Lum and Abner Society and serves as vice-president. He was the person responsible for transporting the NLAS Convention guests from the airport in Little Rock to the convention site in Mena, Arkansas each June. He also was our first videographer who continued providing video recording all the way through.
When you hear a Lum and Abner episode with Horlick’s Malted Milk commercials, you can thank Sam Brown!
He is responsible for the years of negotiations as well as the downright hard physical work required in rescuing those original 1935 transcription discs in 1992!
Beginning in April 1992, Sam took on the task of reading every new issue of The Jot ‘Em Down Journal aloud onto audio cassette and then duplicating and mailing copies to the blind members of the NLAS!
From here until the final issue of Summer 2007, you’ll hear Sam’s recordings.

Thank you, Sam Brown!
