It was 40 years ago today!

No, that’s not when Sgt. Buzzington taught the Pine Ridge Silver Cornet Band to play! It was 40 years ago on Saturday, June 15, 1985 that the National Lum and Abner Society held its first NLAS Convention right in downtown Pine Ridge, Arkansas! We had a budget of around 98 cents (or so it seemed), and our honored guests, writer Roswell B. Rogers and actor Clarence Hartzell, paid their own expenses to be with us. Below are links to pertinent issues of The Jot ‘Em Down Journal with our 1985 coverage of the event, plus biographies of the two special guest stars!
