On Friday, February 16, 2024, I was blessed to have been inducted into the Arts Walk of Fame here in Carthage, Texas. A former student from my CHS-TV program (Carthage High School 2002 graduate), Daron M. McDaniel, faculty member and department chair at Panola College, was instrumental in the nomination. He honored me with his introduction. Main Street Director Cindy Deloney edited a great video which was narrated by the retired broadcaster and communications professor, Dr. Joe Oliver, a veteran of WREC Radio in Memphis and Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. National Lum and Abner Society Vice-President Sam Brown and former CHS-TV student and current SFASU faculty member Derek Wayne Johnson make appearances. Below is the complete video of my portion of the program, which followed the induction of dance instructor Debbie Rowe.
I offer my thanks to the City of Carthage, Texas, City Manager Steve Williams, Main Street Director Cindy Deloney, Mayor Olin Joffrion, Professor Daron McDaniel, Pastor Kevin Otto and our First Methodist Church family, Texas Cartoonists, the National Cartoonists Society, our guests Craig and Kay Pearson, Milburn and Ruth Taylor, Al and Doris Bohl, and of course, my best friend, my wife Laura Pitchford.
Above all, I thank God for His many blessings in my life.

That is amazing! Congratulations 🥳🏆 And very, very well deserved!

Awesome and true — or as a good carpenter might say… plumb, square & true!
It’s been a great honor knowing Mr. Pitchford — if only by phone & email, but I believe all who enjoy his artwork & specifically… his Lum & Abner cartoons… must get to know him a little as well as it seems that he really pours himself into his work.
Congratulations, again, sir!
a Christian 1st & artist 2nd = God’s revealing!
Blessings
